EFL Acca - Midweek Special (1st - 2nd October)
EFL Acca - Midweek Special (1st - 2nd October)

We have an action-packed week of domestic football in England to look forward to with 70 of the 72 clubs in the EFL set to feature on Tuesday and Wednesday. With so much football to look forward to, our tipsters have been busy narrowing these 35 matches down to just five exclusive tips. Our midweek football betting tips are available at odds of 75/1 with our betting partners at William Hill.

EFL Acca Odds - 75/1

  • Blackburn Rovers to win (13/5)
  • Birmingham City to win (3/4)
  • Mansfield Town to win (29/20)
  • Notts County to win (6/4)
  • Gillingham to win (21/20)

Coventry City v Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers to win - 13/5

Coventry City can thank goalkeeper Ben Wilson for restricting Leeds United to just three goals at the weekend as the Sky Blues were well-beaten at Elland Road. Coventry City’s 3-0 defeat at Leeds United leaves them teetering above the Championship relegation zone and winless in five matches.

In contrast to the form of Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers have been one of the real shining lights in the English second tier this season as John Eustace has guided them to third in the league table, just a point off top spot. Blackburn Rovers are one of only three sides in the entire Football League that head into October unbeaten this season and they not only possess the division’s best attack but they have kept three straight clean sheets.

Five of the last seven matches between these sides have ended all-square but we’re tipping Blackburn Rovers to maintain their excellent start to the season by claiming all three points on Tuesday.

Birmingham City v Huddersfield Town

Birmingham City to win - 3/4

Birmingham City are threatening to pull away in League One as they chalked up another three points at the weekend. The big-spending league leaders have now won six straight matches in League One and are already five points clear of third as they aim to seal an immediate return to the Championship. On Tuesday Birmingham City welcome a Huddersfield Town side to St Andrews enduring a real poor run of form. Huddersfield Town have lost four of their last five league games, including each of the last three. Birmingham City ran out convincing 4-1 winners when the sides met in the corresponding fixture last season and another home win should be on the cards.

Crawley Town v Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town to win - 29/20

Crawley Town and Mansfield Town have experienced contrasting starts to life back in League One having earned promotion from the fourth tier last season. Mansfield Town’s 2-0 win at Northampton Town at the weekend gave them a third straight league win to move them up to fifth in the table whilst Crawley Town lost 2-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers to record their fourth defeat in five league games.

Despite earning promotion as play-off winners last season, Crawley Town finished sixteen points and four placed below Mansfield Town and were on the receiving end of a 3-1 loss when the Stags visited Broadfield Stadium in League Two. Crawley Town are the lowest-scoring team in League One and another difficult evening could be on the cards for the hosts on Tuesday.

Carlisle United v Notts County

Notts County to win - 6/4

Notts County endured a frustrating afternoon on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Morecambe but we’re expecting them to bounce back against another of the division’s strugglers on Tuesday. Carlisle United have lost six of their eight league games so far and possess the division’s worst defensive record with seventeen goals conceded in those eight matches.

Despite drawing at Morecambe on Saturday, Notts County boast the best away record in League Two with eight points from four matches away from Meadow Lane this season. We’re predicting a clinical performance from Stuart Maynard’s side on Tuesday and Carlisle United should pose very little trouble to the visitors.

Gillingham v Grimsby Town

Gillingham to win - 21/20

Gillingham have been involved in top-of-table clashes in successive league games and came through both games with maximum points and back-to-back clean sheets. The new outright favourites for the League Two title are back at home on Tuesday when they host a Grimsby Town side that have enjoyed two straight league wins since March 2023. However, that resurgence is likely to be short-lived and we’re tipping the hosts to further consolidate their position at the League Two summit. Grimsby Town did actually earn a 1-1 draw in the corresponding fixture last season but they are without a win at the Priestfield Stadium since 1997. This match has home win written all over it.
