Here at betting.bet you’ll find expert betting tips, team news and pre-match odds
Aston Villa host AFC Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon hoping to build on a superb start to the 2024/25 season. As we look ahead to this fixture between two of the division's in-form teams, here at betting.bet you’ll find expert football betting tips, team news and pre-match odds from our partners at AK Bets.
Form
Aston Villa are in red-hot form both in Europe and domestically and head into Saturday’s Premier League fixture on the back of a third straight UEFA Champions League win which has seen them move to the top of the table in the league phase of the competition. In the Premier League, Aston Villa are fourth with 17 points from eight matches so far. Unai Emery’s side won 3-1 at Fulham last weekend and are now unbeaten in ten matches in all competitions.
AFC Bournemouth earned a shock 2-0 win at home to Arsenal last weekend to move up to eleventh in the Premier League table. The Cherries have earned eleven points in eight matches so far this season, including two wins in their last three matches.
Team News
The big selection headache ahead of Saturday for Unai Emery is up front. Jhon Duran scored again in Tuesday’s 2-0 win against Bologna and looked visibly unhappy to have been substituted. Duran and Ollie Watkins are vying for a starting position at centre forward. Elsewhere, Jaden Philogene will miss the visit of AFC Bournemouth having been sent off in last weekend’s win at Fulham.
Aston Villa v AFC Bournemouth: Head-to-Head
Aston Villa won the corresponding fixture at Villa Park last season, coming from behind to win 3-1 thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey. Dominic Solanke had earlier scored from the penalty spot for AFC Bournemouth.
Aston Villa are now unbeaten in three matches against AFC Bournemouth, winning two and drawing one but had lost four straight matches against Saturday’s opponents prior to that.
Betting Tips
All the pre-match talk will be about the Watkins/Duran selection dilemma but the best value in the various goalscorer markets on Saturday could be Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey. Bailey scored home and away against AFC Bournemouth last season and despite not netting a single goal this season he remains a real attacking threat. Bailey is priced at 5/2 to score at any time at the weekend.
Antoine Semenyo is the only AFC Bournemouth player with more than one goal to his name this season and is therefore an obvious choice of goalscorer for the away side on Saturday at odds of 11/5. However, AFC Bournemouth have failed to score in two successive away league games so we’re not against backing Aston Villa to win to nil at very generous odds of 13/5.
Only three clubs have received fewer yellow cards than Aston Villa in the Premier League this season whilst only West Ham United have committed more fouls than AFC Bournemouth in the first eight games of the season. AFC Bournemouth are priced at 5/6 to be the team with the most booking points whilst they are 4/6 to receive the first card of the match.
