High-flying Brighton & Hove Albion hope to maintain their excellent start to the season on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the south coast. As we look forward to this huge Premier League fixture at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, here at betting.bet you’ll find the latest match updates, expert betting tips and opinions as well as the best football betting odds from our partners at BoyleSports.
Form
Brighton & Hove Albion are currently fifth in the Premier League with fifteen points from eight matches. The Seagulls have won back-to-back games thanks to huge victories over both Tottenham Hotspur (3-2) and Newcastle United (1-0) and are unbeaten at home in all competitions this season.
In contrast, Wolves are rock-bottom of the league with just one point from eight matches. Saturday’s visitors to the Amex were extremely unfortunate to lose at the weekend, conceding a last-gasp goal in a 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester City. Wolves have lost five straight league games and have not won away from home in the Premier League since February 17th.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers: Head-to-Head
These two sides met at the Amex in the third round of this season’s League Cup and it was the home side that emerged victorious, winning 3-2 thanks to goals from Carlos Baleba, Simon Adingra and Ferdi Kadioglu.
The corresponding fixture last season ended goalless but Brighton did win 4-1 when they visited Molineux last August. Brighton have won four and drawn one of their last five league games against Wolves by a combined 16-3 scoreline.
Betting Tips
Brighton’s superior record in this fixture coupled with the fact they are in far better form make them worthy favourites on Saturday. However, Wolves were unfortunate not to get something out of the Manchester City fixture at the weekend and cannot be ruled out with too much confidence. The draw is probably the best bet at 16/5.
Whilst Wolves possess the division’s worst defensive record with 23 goals conceded in their eight games so far they have also hit double figures for goals scored. Matches involving Brighton and Wolves have produced a combined 57 goals so far in this season’s Premier League campaign - the highest combined number of any of this weekend’s ten fixtures. Over 2.5 match goals looks a certainty at 8/15 whilst both over 3.5 match goals (11/8) and both teams to score (6/10) should be given real consideration.
Danny Welbeck is in the form of his life at Brighton with match-winning goals against Spurs and Newcastle taking the former England international up to five league goals for the season. Welbeck is 9/2 to score first on Saturday or 6/4 to score at any time. Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen has also scored in back-to-back league games having already scored against Brentford and Manchester City this month. The Norwegian is solid value at 11/4 to score at any time at the Amex.
Full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has scored two and assisted one goal in Wolves’ last three league games, despite Wolves losing all three matches. If as anticipated Wolves turn the corner after a tricky start to the campaign, Ait-Nouri’s attacking output will only increase. You back the Algerian international at 4/1 to score or assist away at Brighton.
