Arsenal’s 17-game unbeaten run in all competitions came to an abrupt end last weekend as Mike Arteta’s side were on the receiving end of a shock 2-0 reverse at AFC Bournemouth. A red card for William Saliba after just 30 minutes finally told as AFC Bournemouth scored twice in the last twenty minutes. The Gunners got back to winning ways on Tuesday in a far from convincing 1-0 win at home to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League. In the Premier League, Arsenal sit third with 17 points from their eight matches.
Liverpool have made a superb start to life under Arne Slot and currently sit top of the Premier League table with 21 points from a possible 24. The Reds won 1-0 away at RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek whilst their last Premier League game was last Sunday’s 2-1 win at home to Chelsea. Liverpool boast the league’s best defensive record, conceding just three goals in eight games so far.

Arsenal’s injury problems keep mounting with Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori the latest first-teamers set to be ruled out of Sunday’s key fixture. Mikel Arteta’s side were already without Martin Odegaard, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu and the suspended William Saliba.
Liverpool have also been dealt a late blow with Diogo Jota ruled out by the rib injury sustained in last weekend’s win over Chelsea. Alisson and Harvey Elliott remain absent whilst summer signing Federico Chiesa is still not match fit.
Arsenal v Liverpool: Head-to-Head
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored in a 3-1 Arsenal win in the corresponding fixture last season extending the Gunners’ unbeaten record against Liverpool to four league games. Liverpool’s last Premier League win away from home against Arsenal came in March 2022 however they did claim a 2-0 win at the Emirates in last season’s FA Cup third round.
Betting Tips
Arsenal’s growing injury list could see them come unstuck against a Liverpool side in red-hot form. An away win is excellent value at 9/5. Arsenal have however scored in ten successive home games in all competitions which does make both teams to score a solid proposition at 6/10.
Gabriel Martinelli scored home and away against Liverpool last season and in the absence of both Saka and Odegaard, the Brazilian will need to step up if the Gunners are to get anything out of Sunday’s fixture. Martinelli has scored in two of Arsenal’s last three home league games and is priced generously at 3/1 to score at any time this weekend.
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have scored five league goals apiece this season and will be Liverpool’s main goal threats again on Sunday, especially in the absence of Diogo Jota. Salah just has the edge for us due to his excellent scoring record against Arsenal and the Egyptian is 2/1 to score at any time compared to the 3/1 on offer for Diaz in the same market.
Arsenal’s three red cards is more than any other side in the Premier League this season whilst there aren’t many players to have committed more fouls in the league this season than Arsenal’s Kai Havertz (15) and Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch (14). Over 55.5 booking points looks rock-solid at 7/10 whilst Havertz and Gravenberch are 13/5 and 3/1 respectively to be carded.
