Plymouth Argyle v Portsmouth

Plymouth Argyle to win - 11/10

Plymouth Argyle were soundly beaten 3-0 by Leeds United at Elland Road on the weekend but Wayne Rooney’s side will be forgiven for having more than one eye on Tuesday’s huge relegation six-pointer at home to Portsmouth. Eleven of Plymouth Argyle’s twelve league points this season have come at Home Park, including ten points from their last four home league games.

Tuesday’s visitors Portsmouth have won just one game all season and have taken just five points from their six matches throughout October and November despite not playing against any side currently outside of the division’s bottom ten. If either side is to stand any chance of avoiding the drop this season, this fixture would’ve been earmarked as one of the more winnable fixtures and we’re siding with the home side in Devon on Tuesday evening.

Blackburn Rovers v Stoke City

Blackburn Rovers to win - 20/21

Blackburn Rovers have failed to score a single goal in any of their last three league games but could halt that slide at home to Stoke City on Wednesday evening. Despite enduring a poor run of results recently, Blackburn Rovers boast the joint-best home record in the Championship with 16 points earned at Ewood Park already this season.

In contrast, Stoke City make the relatively short trip to Lancashire with just one win in six away league games this season. Stoke City defeated Derby County at the weekend but given that Derby are one of the few sides in the division with a worse away record than Stoke City, this was no real achievement. Prior to that win at home to Derby County, Stoke City had failed to win any of their previous five matches in all competitions.

Coventry City v Derby County

Coventry City to win - 8/11

After a slow start to the season, Coventry City are finally starting to find their feet thanks to seven points in their last three matches. The Sky Blues eased to a 3-0 win at ten-man Middlesbrough at the weekend and have also won two their last three home league games.

Derby County are Wednesday’s visitors to the Coventry Building Society Arena and arrive in Coventry with one of their worst away records in the EFL. The Rams have taken just two points from their seven league games on the road this season and at the weekend lost 2-1 at a Stoke City side that were previously winless in four league games. Derby County are winless in their last five matches away at Coventry City in all competitions.

Stockport County v Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers to win - 2/1

The wheels have well and truly fallen off Stockport County’s promotion push and The Hatters head into Tuesday’s game at home to Wycombe Wanderers on the back of just one win in five league games. Stockport County also needed extra-time to overcome National League side Forest Green Rovers at home in their FA Cup first round tie and will need to be much improved if they are to get anything out of Tuesday’s match at home to a Wycombe Wanderers side in red-hot form.

Wycombe Wanderers looked far more comfortable than the result suggested when defeating York City (3-2) in the FA Cup at the weekend but it is their league form that has been particularly impressive in recent weeks. Matt Bloomfield’s side have charged up to second position in League One thanks to a run of ten league games without defeat, including four straight wins. The high-flyers have scored exactly three goals in four successive matches in all competitions and will relish the trip to a Stockport County side without a clean sheet in their last five games.
