Enzo Maresca returns to Leicester City on Saturday when he takes his Chelsea side to the King Power Stadium in Saturday’s early kick-off in the Premier League. As we look ahead to this key Premier League fixture, here at betting.bet you’ll find the latest team news, enhanced match insights and expert betting tips as well as the latest pre-match odds from our partners at Ladbrokes.
Form
Leicester City have slipped to 15th in the Premier League table thanks to a return of just one point in their last three matches. The Foxes lost to Nottingham Forest (3-1) and Manchester United (3-0) either side of a 1-1 draw away at Ipswich Town. Saturday’s hosts have won just one of their five league games at the King Power Stadium this season, scoring exactly one goal in each of them.
Chelsea have moved up to third in the Premier League with just one defeat in their last ten league games. The Blues’ only two losses in this season's Premier League have come against the current top two, Liverpool and Manchester City. The Blues have lost just one of their five league games on the road this season but have drawn back-to-back league games against Manchester United and Arsenal. Chelsea have scored more goals (12) on the road than any other Premier League team.
Leicester City v Chelsea: Head-to-Head
Chelsea have won five and drawn one of their last six matches against Leicester City in all competitions. The Blues emerged as 4-2 winners when the sides met in last season’s FA Cup quarter-final. Ironically, Enzo Maresca was in the Leicester City dugout back in March.
Chelsea’s last trip to the King Power Stadium was a league game in March 2023. Goals from Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic helped Chelsea to the 3-1 win.
Betting Tips
There have been 35 goals scored in Leicester City’s eleven Premier League games so far, the joint-fourth highest total amongst the division’s 20 clubs whilst Chelsea fixtures have produced just one fewer with a total of 34 goals. A high-scoring game seems almost inevitable in this lunchtime kick-off and over 3.5 match goals looks superb value at 23/20.
Chelsea are the in-form side heading into this fixture but The Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet in the league since September. Both teams have scored in Chelsea’s last six league games and Ladbrokes are offering odds of 4/7 on both teams to score here.
If we are to receive the goals we’re anticipating at the King Power, who are the most likely sources of goals? Neither Cole Palmer or Nicolas Jackson have scored in any of Chelsea’s last four matches in all competitions yet they have a combined 13 Premier League goals already this season. Palmer is Chelsea’s top goalscorer in the league with seven goals but only two of those seven have come away from Stamford Bridge. In contrast, four of Nicolas Jackson’s six league goals have been scored on the road. Whilst we favour Nicolas Jackson to score at any time at 6/4, the 21/20 for Cole Palmer in the same market does seem overpriced.
Leicester City talisman Jamie Vardy has already netted four league goals this season but missed his side’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United with a back injury. Jordan Ayew led the line at Old Trafford in Vardy’s absence but he will not be fit to play on Saturday after picking up an injury during the international break. If both Vardy and Ayew are missing from the Leicester City squad on Saturday then on-loan 19-year-old Facundo Buonanotte could shoulder that goalscoring burden. Buonanotte has scored three goals in the Premier League this season and looks excellent value at 4/1 to score against Chelsea this weekend.
