FA Cup Third Round Betting Tips

Wolves, Norwich City & Leyton Orient to win - 33/1
This coming weekend offers one of the highlights of the English domestic football calendar as the FA Cup reaches the third round stage. The ‘magic’ of the FA Cup remains well and truly alive with the competition continuing to produce its fair share of giant-killings in recent years. Here at betting.bet we’ve cast our eye over this year’s third round fixtures and picked some of the potential cup upsets and betting tips as well as the latest pre-match odds from our betting partners at Virgin Bet.
FA Cup Third Round Treble - 33/1
- Wolverhampton Wanderers to win (6/5)
- Norwich City to win (21/5)
- Leyton Orient to win (2/1)
Bristol City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton Wanderers to win - 6/5
Bristol City have moved to within touching distance of the top six in the Sky Bet Championship with ten points from their last four matches. The Robins have not lost at Ashton Gate since November and are likely to sell out for the visit of Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Wolves are already without talisman Matheus Cunha through suspension for the trip to Bristol City and manager Vitor Pereira could be tempted to make wholesale changes as they prioritise an ongoing battle to beat the drop in the Premier League.
All of the above points towards a home win but we’re backing the Premier League side to progress to round four. Bristol City’s upturn in form has coincided with a favourable run of fixtures that has seen them play four straight matches against sides currently in the Championship’s bottom seven whilst Wolves have earned four points in their last two away games against Leicester City (3-0) and Tottenham Hotspur (2-2).
Norwich City v Brighton & Hove Albion
Norwich City to win - 21/5
Norwich City have earned three wins and one draw from their last four Championship matches and with 23 points in 13 league games at Carrow Road they possess one of the division’s best home records. Brighton & Hove Albion earned a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal last weekend but their winless run now stretches back eight matches. The Seagulls have now drawn four straight games which could make another stalemate worth consideration this weekend but we’re tipping the hosts to get the job done against their Premier League opponents inside 90 minutes.
Leyton Orient v Derby County
Leyton Orient to win - 2/1
Leyton Orient are arguably the most in-form team in League One and they head into their FA Cup third round tie at home to Derby County on the back of five straight league wins. Richie Wellens’ side are now unbeaten in ten matches in all competitions yet they head into this third round tie as the bookies’ underdogs.
Derby County are the visitors to Brisbane Road and arrive in East London with one of the worst away records in the Championship. The Rams have won just one away league game all season and have slumped to 18th in the league with three straight defeats.
Derby County have taken just one point from their last five league games on the road and their 1-0 loss at Bristol City last weekend was greeted by a chorus of boos amongst the travelling Derby County fans. Staying in the Championship remains the priority for Derby County this season and we’re not expecting too much from them on Saturday.
