Where To Watch Arsenal v Manchester United

Arsenal versus Manchester United takes place at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. Live televised coverage of the match is available in the UK on BBC One with radio coverage live on TalkSPORT.

Form

Arsenal have to dust themselves off on Sunday after a disappointing League Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday evening. The Gunners are now big underdogs to reach the final after losing 2-0 at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s side do however remain in the Premier League title race and are currently unbeaten in ten league games.

Following a dreadful run of results, Manchester United are currently eleven places and 17 points adrift of Arsenal in 13th in the Premier League. The Red Devils are winless in five matches in all competitions, conceding at least two goals in each of those matches.

Team News

Arsenal remain without a number of first-team players including Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Mikel Arteta has some important decisions to make in his forward line. In the absence of talisman Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Gabrield Martinelli are likely to occupy the wide positions whilst in-form Gabriel Jesus could get the nod over Kai Havertz through the middle.

Manchester United remain without long-term absentees Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Victor Lindelof for the trip to Arsenal. Marcus Rashford should again be fit to play but is unlikely to feature with speculation over a January departure gaining momentum. Leny Yoro could get the nod over Matthijs de Ligt in defence after an impressive albeit brief cameo in last weekend’s draw at Liverpool.

Arsenal v Manchester United: Head-to-Head

Arsenal have won four straight matches against Manchester United, most recently when claiming a 2-0 home win over Sunday’s opponents in the Premier League in December.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last seven home matches against Manchester United in all competitions but ironically, Manchester United’s last win at the Emirates came in an FA Cup tie six years ago. The Red Devils won 3-1 in an FA Cup fourth round tie in January 2019.

Betting.Bet Betting Tips

Pressure is starting to build on Mikel Arteta to start delivering silverware yet Arsenal’s priority remains the Premier League. Can this open the door for a Manchester United win on Sunday? Ruben Amorim’s side will take some encouragement from their performance in last weekend’s draw at Liverpool and could upset the odds at the Emirates. An away win looks way overpriced at 19/5.

Prior to last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Anfield, Manchester United had failed to score in three straight matches and only four teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than the Red Devils this season. Any win for Manchester United on Sunday is likely to be by the narrowest of margins, we’re not therefore opposed to tipping under 2.5 match goals at Evens.

Arsenal’s mis-firing attackers have scored just one goal in three home league games since defeating Manchester United in December and the absence of Bukayo Saka certainly won’t help matters on Sunday. The Gunners have become over-reliant on set-piece goals and this could once again be their best chance of scoring on Sunday. Defenders Jurrien Timber and William Saliba were on target against Manchester United last month whilst Gabriel Magalhaes has scored three league goals already this season. All the Arsenal backline should be considered as potential goal scorers on Sunday and here are the latest any time goalscorer odds for The Gunners’ quartet.

Anytime GoalscorerFirst Goalscorer
Gabriel Magalhaes6/114/1
Riccardo Calafiori6/114/1
Jurrien Timber9/122/1
William Saliba15/140/1

Jurrien Timber has been carded in two of his last three Premier League appearances and looks the most likely Arsenal player to find his way into the referee’s notebook at the weekend. The Netherlands international is generously priced at 5/1 to be carded on Sunday.

Manchester United’s squad is littered with players that struggle with ill-discipline and there are a number worth consideration in the same market on Sunday. Lisandro Martinez has received six Premier League yellow cards already this season whilst both Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot were booked against Liverpool. However, our pick is central midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The young Uruguayan has been booked in two of his last three starts and does have a tendency to get over-excited at times. Ugarte along with Kobbie Mainoo could be outnumbered in the middle of the pitch by Declan Rice, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard which makes the 7/4 on offer for Ugarte to be carded look far too big not to consider.
