Plymouth Argyle v Queens Park Rangers
QPR to win - 13/10
Plymouth Argyle’s slide towards League One has shown no signs of slowing in recent weeks and The Pilgrims head into the weekend three points from safety and winless in their last twelve league games. They have fared slightly better at Home Park than on the road but may struggle against an in-form QPR side.
A couple of months ago this would’ve been seen as a relegation six-pointer but Queens Park Rangers have surged up the Championship table with just one defeat in their last eleven league games. Marti Cifuentes’s side were well-beaten by Leicester City in the FA Cup but have started 2025 with back-to-back league wins over Watford and Luton Town.
Blackpool v Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town to win - 6/4
Blackpool have slipped into the bottom half of the League One table having failed to win any of their last five league games. Incredibly Steve Bruce’s side have not won at Bloomfield Road since September and now they prepare to host one of the division’s most in-form teams.
Huddersfield Town have put themselves right in the mix for one of the two automatic promotion spots thanks to a fifteen game unbeaten run that stretches all the way back to October 1st. The Terriers did lose 2-0 to Blackpool in the reverse fixture back in September but we’re tipping them to avenge that loss with a fifth straight away league win.
Bolton Wanderers v Cambridge United
Bolton Wanderers to win - 8/15
Bolton Wanderers will welcome a return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday after kicking off 2025 with four straight away matches. The Trotters remain in the hunt for a play-off spot but have to find some sort of consistency having failed to win or lose successive matches since winning back-to-back league games in October.
Cambridge United are eight points from safety ahead of the weekend and are on a desperate run of five straight defeats and just one win in their last twelve league games. Garry Monk’s side possess one of the worst away records in League One, earning just five points and one win from their dozen league games on the road.
Mansfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers
Mansfield Town to win - 11/8
Promotion-chasing Wycombe Wanderers are enduring a mid-season wobble in League One with just one win in their last four league games. The Chairboys’ problems have been further compounded by manager Matt Bloomfield’s switch to Luton Town earlier this week.
Saturday’s hosts, Mansfield Town have kept their own promotion hopes alive with four wins in their last five league games. Nigel Clough’s side have earned more points on the road than at Field Mill this season but they by no means have a poor home record.
Salford City v Fleetwood Town
Salford City to win - 5/6
Salford City are one of the EFL’s most in-form teams with Karl Robinson’s side charging into the automatic promotion places. Whilst they may have been humbled in the FA Cup, losing 8-0 at Manchester City last time out, Salford City have put together a sequence of six straight league wins.
Fleetwood Town head to the Peninsula Stadium for their first competitive fixture since New Year’s Day. Saturday’s visitors have suffered two straight postponements this month and could be caught cold at the weekend. Fleetwood Town’s Boxing Day win over Chesterfield is their only win in eight whilst away from home they’re without a single league win since October 1st.
Swindon Town v Barrow
Swindon Town to win - 6/5
Ian Holloway is finally showing signs of being able to turn Swindon Town’s season around with a five-point gap between them at the relegation zone. The Robins have lost just one of their last six league games and their last four home league games have produced three wins and one draw.
Barrow are winless in four league games and have won just one of their last 14 League Two matches. Only nine of Barrow’s 28 points so far this season have come away from home with the most recent of their two away league wins coming back in September. Three points for Swindon Town will move them level with Barrow and one step closer to safety.
