EFL Acca - Midweek Special (21st - 22nd January)

Sunderland, Watford, Cardiff City, Portsmouth & Burnley to win - 60/1

The action in the English Football League comes thick and fast with a full complement of midweek fixtures to look forward to in the Championship this week as well as five matches on Tuesday evening across League One and League Two. Here at betting.bet our resident tipsters have put together an intriguing five-fold accumulator with the latest football betting odds from our partners at Unibet.

EFL Acca Odds - 60/1

  • Sunderland to win (57/50)
  • Watford to win (21/20)
  • Cardiff City to win (27/10)
  • Portsmouth to win (7/5)
  • Burnley to win (13/20)

Derby County v Sunderland

Sunderland to win - 57/50

Four straight defeats have seen Derby County dragged right into a relegation battle with their once solid home form recently deserting them. The Rams started the season with four wins in their first five league games at Pride Park but have taken just eight points from their subsequent eight home games.

Sunderland were unfortunate not to claim all three points away to title rivals Burnley last Friday, missing two late penalties in a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor. The Black Cats remain in contention for automatic promotion and will want to get back to winning ways on Tuesday evening. Sunderland won 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in October.

Watford v Preston North End

Watford to win - 21/20

Watford earned a rare away win at Derby County at the weekend and now they head back to Vicarage Road hoping to build on a first win in five league games. Despite a return of one point in four matches prior to Saturday’s 2-0 win at Pride Park, Watford only sit outside of the top six on goal difference thanks to one of the division’s best home records.

Preston North End won 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Deepdale but have won just one away league all season. Preston limped to a 0-0 draw at Luton Town on Saturday to extend their winless start to 2025 to three Championship matches. We’re backing Watford to avenge their heavy defeat when these last met and keep up their play-off push at the expense of Paul Heckingbottom’s out of form Preston.

Millwall v Cardiff City

Cardiff City to win - 27/10

Millwall were sitting comfortably in mid-table but five games without a win has dragged them right into a relegation battle in the Championship. Alex Neil’s side have lost both home league games this year, going down 1-0 to both Oxford United and Hull City. Millwall also lost by the same 1-0 scoreline to Tuesday’s opponents, Cardiff City when the sides met in South Wales back in October.

Cardiff City will be full of confidence following their biggest South Wales derby win in 60 years at the weekend. The Bluebirds eased to a superb 3-0 win at home to Swansea City on Saturday and will now be hoping for just a second away win of the season when they travel to fellow strugglers Millwall. Whilst Cardiff City remain just one point above the bottom three they had to Millwall on a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Portsmouth v Stoke City

Portsmouth to win - 7/5

Portsmouth are in deep trouble at the wrong end of the Sky Bet Championship table but if they are to avoid dropping into the third tier then their home form will be key. 19 of their 26 points have been won at Fratton Park, including five wins and one draw in their last six home league games. Pompey earned a third straight home win at the weekend, coming from behind to defeat high-flying Middlesbrough (2-1).

Stoke City drew for the third straight game last time out and remain unbeaten under new boss Mark Robins. However they have won just one of the last 13 and away from the bet365 Stadium, Stoke City are without a single league win since November 6th. We expect Stoke City to struggle on the south coast on Wednesday evening but will eventually start to climb the table under Mark Robins.

Plymouth Argyle v Burnley

Burnley to win - 13/20

Another defeat for Plymouth Argyle at the weekend has left The Pilgrims five points from safety at the foot of the Championship table. A 1-0 defeat at home to QPR last time out extended Plymouth Argyle’s winless run to 13 matches. 18 of Plymouth’s 21 points have been earned at Home Park but they could be in for a long night in front of their home fans on Wednesday evening.

Burnlye make the long trip south this week aiming to maintain their promotion push and a 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions. The Clarets have now gone five league games without conceding a single goal and boast a phenomenal return of nine goals conceded in their 27 matches so far. Plymouth Argyle possess one of the Championship’s worst attacking records with just 25 goals scored in 27 matches. Burnley to win to nil will prove very popular on Wednesday evening.
