- Cardiff City to win (6/5)
- Mansfield Town to win (26/25)
- Rotherham United to win (10/11)
- Wycombe Wanderers to win (3/10)
- Port Vale to win (49/20)
- Crewe Alexandra to win (5/6)
Cardiff City v Derby County
Cardiff City to win - 6/5
Cardiff City remain deep in trouble at the wrong end of the Championship table but a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions has done their hopes of avoiding relegation no harm at all. The Bluebirds’ last home league game was a superb 3-0 South Wales derby win over Swansea City before coming from two goals down to earn a last-gasp 2-2 draw at Millwall on Tuesday evening.
Derby County head to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday one point below their hosts following a run of five straight league defeats. The free-falling Rams have failed to score a single goal in their last three league games and possess one of the worst away records in the Championship this season with just one win in 14 matches on the road.
Cambridge United v Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town to win - 26/25
Cambridge United’s four-year stay in League One looks to be coming to an end with Garry Monk’s side falling eight points adrift of safety with little more than half the season gone. A 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers last weekend halted a run of five straight league defeats but the League One strugglers have now won just one of their last 13 league games.
Mansfield Town are one of the division’s few sides to have earned more points on the road than they have at home but it is that away form that makes them such an appealing proposition on Saturday. The Stags were unfortunate not to get anything out of last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at home to high-flying Wycombe Wanderers but we’re tipping them to clinch a third win in four league games on Saturday.
Burton Albion v Rotherham United
Rotherham United to win - 10/11
Burton Albion possess the worst home record in League One by some distance with just one win and six points from 13 league games at the Pirelli Stadium. Gary Bowyer’s side ended a run of six games without a win last weekend but they have not managed back-to-back league wins since February.
Rotherham United have all but ended their own relegation concerns thanks to an excellent start to 2025. The Millers have won three and drawn one of their four league games since the turn of the year despite all four fixtures coming against sides in the top half of the table.
Wycombe Wanderers v Northampton Town
Wycombe Wanderers to win - 3/10
Not even the loss of manager Matt Bloomfield has slowed Wycombe Wanderers’ promotion push as the managerless Chairboys consolidated their position in one of the automatic promotion spots with a 2-1 win at Mansfield Town last weekend. Wycombe Wanderers’ only two home defeats this season have come against promotion rivals Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town.
Northampton Town visit Adams Park on Saturday sitting precariously close to the League One relegation zone. The Cobblers are 20th thanks to a run of just one win in seven league games. Northampton Town’s only two wins since October were both against fellow strugglers, winning 2-1 at home to Peterborough United in November before earning a 1-0 win away at Burton Albion earlier this month. A trip to high-flying Wycombe Wanderers is not likely to produce anything but a home win.
Chesterfield v Port Vale
Port Vale to win - 49/20
Chesterfield’s play-off hopes have gone up in smoke since Christmas with The Spireites taking just one point from four matches. Chesterfield possess one of the worst home records in League Two and we believe they’ll struggle to get anything out of this coming Saturday’s match at the SMH Group Stadium.
Promotion-chasing Port Vale at the visitors on Saturday and they will make the relatively short trip across the Pennines full of confidence. Darren Moore’s side got their promotion push back on track with consecutive wins over Doncaster Rovers and Newport County and ahead of the weekend they boast the best away record in League Two with 24 points picked up on the road.
Crewe Alexandra v Accrington Stanley
Crewe Alexandra to win - 5/6
Promotion hopefuls Crewe Alexandra sit second in League Two and head into the weekend unbeaten in five league games. Lee Bell’s side have lost just one league game since September and have lost just once all season at Gresty Road. The reverse fixture away at Saturday’s opponents ended 1-0 in Crewe Alexandra’s favour.
Accrington Stanley did their League Two survival hopes no harm when kicking off 2025 with back-to-back league wins against Grimsby Town and Colchester United but were second best throughout when suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Notts County last weekend. Accrington Stanley have not back-to-back away league games since October 2023 and we’re not expecting that to change this weekend.
