Where To Watch Manchester City v Chelsea

Manchester City v Chelsea is scheduled to kick off at the Etihad Stadium at 5:30pm on Saturday evening. Live television coverage of this Premier League fixture will be available on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League whilst radio commentary is available live and exclusive on BBC Radio 5 Live. Extended match highlights will be shown on Saturday’s evening as part of the BBC’s Match Of The Day programme.

Form

Manchester City threw away a two-goal lead to go down 4-2 at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last time out but they are now unbeaten in five Premier League games. Pep Guardiola’s side were convincing 6-0 winners at Ipswich Town in their most recent Premier League fixture to move up to fifth position with 38 points in 22 matches.

Chelsea sit one position and two points above Manchester City in fourth place. Monday’s 3-1 win at home to Wolves ended a run of five Premier League games without a win. The Blues have not won an away league since winning 4-3 at Spurs on December 8th.

Team News

Manchester City have a number of fitness doubts ahead of Saturday with question marks over the likes of Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jeremy Doku. Rodri remains unavailable but fellow long-term absentee Oscar Bobb is thought to be close to a return to action. Kyle Walker is unlikely to feature as he closes in on a move to AC Milan.

Manchester City have been busy in the transfer market this week, signing Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis for a combined cost of almost £130m. All three January transfers could be in line to make their debut on Saturday.

Chelsea will be without Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile and Mykhailo Mudryk for the trip to the Etihad Stadium. There are also doubts over Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill whilst it remains to be seen whether Reece James is fit enough to start a second game in five days.

Manchester City v Chelsea: Head-to-Head

Manchester City won 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend of the season thanks to goals in each half from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic. That win saw Manchester City extend their unbeaten run against Chelsea to ten matches in all competitions. Chelsea’s last win against Manchester City came in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final. The corresponding fixture last season ended 1-1 as Rodri cancelled out Raheem Sterling’s opener in Chelsea’s last visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Betting.Bet Betting Tips

Chelsea have not been at their best in recent weeks and if you combine their poor form with their awful record in recent matches against Manchester City, it is hard to look past a home win on Saturday. Manchester City to win is priced fairly at 21/20.

Manchester City fans have certainly got their money’s worth from the five matches their club has been involved in so far in 2025. There have been a huge 29 goals scored in five Manchester City games in all competitions this month with at least four goals scored in every single one. Combine this with the fact that Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in five straight league games and we’re optimistic about the chances of seeing plenty of goals at the Etihad on Saturday. Both teams to score looks rock-solid at 7/20 whilst over 2.5 match goals could prove a great betting option at 21/50.

Erling Haaland looks to have turned the corner after a dry spell in front of goal, netting in back-to-back matches against Ipswich Town and PSG. The Manchester City forward scored a brace in his club’s most recent home league game and opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge last August. The Norway international is quite rightly the red-hot favourite in various goalscorer markets and should be considered at 49/50 to score at any time. Alternatively, you could bet on Haaland to score first or to score two or more at 33/10 or 23/5 respectively.

Cole Palmer is Chelsea’s top goal scorer in the league this season with 14 goals to his name already. The former Manchester City player could once again prove Chelsea’s main attacking threat and at 31/20, he is very back-able in the anytime goalscorer market.

Pundit Predictions

Ex-pro footballers-turned-pundits Chris Sutton and Mark Lawrenson have both tipped a 2-1 Manchester City win on Saturday. This is available at 7/1 in BetMGM’s correct score market.

Betway Insider has backed over 3.5 match goals at 27/25 whilst Dan Childs of the Racing Post is keen on Phil Foden at 39/20 in the anytime goalscorer market.
