The first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool will be played at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday 5th March. Liverpool qualified for the last-16 as group stage winners with 21 points from their eight group games. The Reds won their first seven matches of the competition before losing 3-2 at PSV with a top-two finish already guaranteed.
In contrast, PSG qualified for the last-16 the hard way. The French giants won just four of their eight group games to finish in a lowly 15th position. Luis Enrique’s side drew fellow French club Brest in the play-offs, easing to a 10-0 aggregate win.
Domestic Form
Liverpool have been as dominant in the Premier League as they were in the Champions League group stage. Arne Slot’s side are unbeaten in the league since September and opened up a 13-point lead at the league’s summit with back-to-back 2-0 wins over Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Five straight wins in Ligue 1 have put PSG on the verge of a third straight French title. The 12-time winners are unbeaten and like Liverpool, PSG are also 13 points clear in their domestic league with 62 points from 24 matches.
Paris Saint-Germain v Liverpool: Head-to-Head
PSG and Liverpool have met on four previous occasions, winning two games apiece. The Parc des Princes and Anfield have each hosted two matches between these sides and the home side has come out on top on every occasion. Liverpool’s last away game against PSG saw the French side win 2-1 back in November 2018. Juan Bernat and Neymar were on target for PSG before Liverpool pulled on back through a James Milner penalty.

The draw is priced at 27/10 whilst in the correct score market a 2-2 draw looks incredible value at 19/2.

The France international has scored in three successive matches in all competitions and has already netted six times in this season’s UEFA Champions League. Ousmane Dembele will inevitably prove hugely popular in numerous goalscorer markets on Wednesday. Dembele is not the only forward heading into Wednesday’s fixture in red-hot form, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been arguably the best player in Europe this season. Salah has netted 30 goals in 39 matches in all competitions for Liverpool this season and has scored in three successive away games.
