Where To Watch Liverpool v Newcastle United

Kick-off for Liverpool v Newcastle United is scheduled for 16:30 with live televised coverage available on both ITV and Sky Sports. ITV’s coverage will be broadcast on ITV1 or streamed live on ITVX. Sky Sports have made the cup final available for free on Sky Showcase as well as Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.

Road To Wembley

Liverpool have eliminated Premier League opposition at each stage of this season’s Carabao Cup. In round three The Reds defeated West Ham United (5-1) at Anfield before successive away wins at Brighton & Hove Albion (3-2) and Southampton (2-1) in rounds four and five respectively. Arne Slot’s side lost 1-0 away at Spurs in the first leg of the semi-final tie but eased into Sunday’s final thanks to a rampant 4-0 second leg win at Anfield.

Newcastle United almost fell at the first hurdle in this season’s Carabao Cup. Eddie Howe’s side drew 1-1 away at Nottingham Forest in round two before progressing via a penalty shootout. The Magpies went on to defeat AFC Wimbledon (1-0), Chelsea (2-0) and Brentford (3-1) in three straight home ties before winning 2-0 home and away to complete a 4-0 semi-final aggregate win over Arsenal.

Form

Liverpool head to Wembley hoping to shrug off their disappointing Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week. The Reds took a 1-0 lead into the second league of their last-16 tie but lost by the same scoreline at Anfield before crashing out on penalties. The loss to PSG ended Liverpool’s seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Newcastle United won 1-0 away at in-form West Ham United last time out. That Premier League win was just their third success in six matches in all competitions since their League Cup semi-final win.

Liverpool v Newcastle United: Head-to-Head

Liverpool have an excellent recent record against Newcastle United and head into Sunday’s cup final unbeaten in the last 17 meetings between the sides. The Reds have played Newcastle United twice in the last three months, drawing 3-3 at St James’ Park in December before winning 2-0 at Anfield less than three weeks ago.

Betting.Bet Betting Tips

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is in the form of his life with 32 goals in 42 matches in all competitions this season. The Egyptian may not have scored against Newcastle United last month but he did score back-to-back braces against The Magpies prior to that. Salah is priced at 4/5 to score at any time on Sunday or 14/5 to score first.

Teammate, Cody Gakpo has an excellent goalscoring record in the League Cup and is currently the competition’s top scorer this season. Gakpo has netted five times en route to the final whilst also scoring four goals in last season’s tournament. Gakpo could be an excellent alternative to Salah and is priced at 11/5 to score at any time.

Whilst we’re tipping a couple of Liverpool players to hit the target on Sunday, we’re not expecting too many goals at Wembley Stadium. The last four League Cup finals have each produced under 2.5 match goals whilst the last two finals involving Liverpool were goalless after 90 minutes. Under 2.5 match goals is worth consideration at 11/10 whilst a 0-0 draw could prove overpriced at 10/1 in the correct score market.
