Newcastle v Manchester United

Manchester United head to Newcastle after a decent performance in Lyon on Thursday night. After the disappointment of conceding late, they return to Old Trafford next week on level terms. United will be frustrated, and the team sheet could reflect this. However, even if United drop their big stars, they have some bright young players who will want to prove to Amorim that they can perform on the big stage, and this enthusiasm could be enough to topple the Toon.

Newcastle will be fresh after having a week off and will be desperate to push towards Champions League qualification, especially now that English teams are guaranteed five spots next season.

Newcastle are in great form, having won their last four games. What's even more encouraging is that they have got the better of United in four of the last five meetings, including a 2-0 away win in December.

This alone rightly makes them favourites; however, even though United haven’t been winning games, I believe they are finally turning the ship around. A win against Newcastle could give them a huge boost for their Europa League match midweek as they try to get into the Champions League through the back door.

United haven’t won in their last Premier League games, but they have only conceded one goal, which suggests they are at least becoming more competitive. I don’t think they will keep a clean sheet today by any stretch, but by percentages alone, their attacking players are due some goals.

So, I’m going with a shock away win of 3-2 – yes, that's right, an away win.

Nottingham Forest v Everton

Everton visit the City Ground with not much to play for. Everton’s season is effectively over, but next year they will be moving to a new stadium in Liverpool, which will raise the club's status. Existing players will want to stay and be part of that, so this could be the time to show what they are made of with a solid finish to the season. Since Moyes returned, they have performed well, but they need to start turning recent draws into wins, and this could be the week to do it.

Nottingham Forest’s season has been nothing short of spectacular, and despite not fighting for the title, it’s reminiscent of Leicester’s Premier League-winning season. As they are almost certainly on their way to the Champions League, they can still be caught and need to add more points to the table. Recent form is very good, with wins over both Manchester clubs; however, they slipped up against a solid Villa team. This could be the time they start to drop off, and Everton could be the team to start the slide. They have had the better of Forest in recent meetings and can scrape a narrow win here.
