Sure Scores Strikes Again: Two Correct Scores Land Including a 14/1 Winner

Our Sure Scores delivered an excellent result, with Michael Barry landing two of his three correct score tips for the day, including a superb 14/1 winner. He is a right jammy one. Fellow tipster Stephen Welch went with 5-0 but Mike convinced me that it's tough to score 5 goals after a 7-0 win. Either way both great shouts.

Michael’s three selections were Croatia 0 to 3 Spain, England 3 to 0 Czech Republic and Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia. Correct score betting leaves virtually no margin for error, with both teams’ goal totals needing to be predicted precisely, but two of Michael’s three tips finished exactly as forecast.

The successful selections were England to beat the Czech Republic 3 to 0 at 11/2 and Slovenia to beat Scotland 2 to 1 at 14/1. For anyone who combined all three of Michael’s Sure Scores in a £10 Patent costing £70, those two winning scores would have been enough to generate a £1,190 return and £1,120 profit.

England 3 to 0 Czech Republic Lands at 11/2

Michael’s first winning Sure Score came from England’s meeting with the Czech Republic, where he tipped the Three Lions to record a 3 to 0 victory at 11/2.

England were expected to win, so simply backing them in the match result market would hardly have offered an exciting price. Michael went considerably further by predicting not only an England victory, but the exact winning margin and a clean sheet.

That was exactly how the match finished, with England winning 3 to 0 and delivering Michael’s first correct score of the day.

A £10 single at 11/2 would have returned £65 including the original stake. More importantly for anyone combining the Sure Scores, it provided the first half of what would become a very valuable correct score double.

Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia Lands at 14/1

The standout Sure Score of the day was undoubtedly Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia at 14/1.

This was the more adventurous of Michael’s successful selections. He needed Slovenia to win away from home, Scotland to find the net and the visitors to score exactly twice. There was considerably more to get right than simply identifying which side would win the match.

Once again, Michael got the score spot on, with the game finishing Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia.

At odds of 14/1, a £10 single would have returned £150 including the stake. It was comfortably the biggest priced of Michael’s three Sure Scores and, when combined with the England prediction, produced an even more impressive return.

Croatia 0 to 3 Spain Prevents the Clean Sweep

Michael’s third Sure Score was Croatia 0 to 3 Spain, which was available at around 8/1.

That was the one selection that prevented a remarkable three from three clean sweep.

It also illustrates just how difficult the correct score market can be. Predicting the general direction of a match is only part of the challenge. One goal more or less for either team is enough to turn a strong reading of a game into a losing correct score bet.

Michael therefore finished the day with two winning correct scores from only three selections, with both successful tips coming at substantial prices.

Michael Barry's Sure Scores Results

Sure Score TipOddsResult
Croatia 0 to 3 Spain8/1Lost
England 3 to 0 Czech Republic11/2Won
Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia14/1Won

Two winners from three would have produced an excellent result for anyone backing Michael’s tips individually, but the numbers become considerably more interesting when looking at the three selections as a Patent.

What a £10 Sure Scores Patent Would Have Returned

A Patent consists of seven separate bets: three singles, three doubles and one treble. Backing Michael’s three Sure Scores at £10 per bet would therefore have required a total stake of £70.

Because England 3 to 0 and Scotland 1 to 2 both landed, three parts of the Patent would have won: the England single, the Slovenia single and the England/Slovenia double.

Winning Patent BetOdds£10 Return
England 3 to 0 Czech Republic11/2£65
Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia14/1£150
England 3 to 0 + Scotland 1 to 2193/2£975
Total Return£1,190
Total Patent Stake£70
Profit£1,120

So despite Michael’s Croatia v Spain selection not landing, a £70 Patent would have returned £1,190, leaving a £1,120 profit.

That equates to a 1,600% profit on the total amount staked.

The losing Croatia selection meant the other two doubles and the treble would have been unsuccessful. However, that is precisely where a Patent would have proved useful. Had the three Sure Scores simply been combined in a treble, the bet would have lost. With the Patent, the two winning singles remained live alongside the extremely valuable winning double.

Two Correct Scores Combine for a 193/2 Double

Perhaps the most eye catching number from Michael’s day was not the 11/2 England winner or even the 14/1 Slovenia selection.

It was 193/2.

Combining England 3 to 0 at 11/2 with Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia at 14/1 produces double odds of 193/2.

A £10 double on those two exact scores alone would therefore have returned £975.

That shows just how quickly the potential returns can increase when two correct score predictions land on the same day. Of course, the reason the prices are so large is because predicting the exact result is considerably harder than simply picking a match winner.

What Are Sure Scores?

Sure Scores is our football correct score feature, with Michael Barry selecting the matches and scorelines he believes offer the most interesting opportunities each day.

Rather than simply tipping a team to win, Michael has to go a significant step further by forecasting exactly how many goals each side will score. A 3 to 0 prediction does not win if the match finishes 2 to 0 or 4 to 0, while a 2 to 1 selection is beaten by a late equaliser just as surely as it is by the team losing heavily.

The aim is not to produce a huge list of correct score tips and hope that something lands. Michael concentrates on a smaller number of matches where he believes the form, respective strengths of the teams and likely pattern of the game point towards a particular result.

On this occasion, that approach produced two exact scores from only three tips.

Two From Three Will Do Very Nicely

Michael came within one selection of landing all three Sure Scores, but there will certainly be no complaints about the final result.

England 3 to 0 Czech Republic at 11/2. WON.

Scotland 1 to 2 Slovenia at 14/1. WON.

Two correct scores from three tips.

And for anyone playing the selections as a Patent:

£10 Patent: £70 total stake.

Return: £1,190.

Profit: £1,120.

The two winning selections also combined to produce a 193/2 correct score double, turning a £10 double into a potential £975 return.

It was an outstanding day for Michael Barry’s Sure Scores and another reminder of the potential rewards available when an exact score prediction is bang on the money.
