Livingit Du Large 10/1
Gavin Sheehan/Jamie Snowden
Live price from Bet365
LIVINGIT DU LARGE could prove a fair bit better over fences than he was over hurdles and looks an interesting one on his chasing debut. Jamie Snowden has always given the impression that chasing would be the making of this five year old, and his pedigree certainly backs that up. He is a half brother to winning chaser Gua Du Large and has the size and profile of a horse who was never going to be seen to best effect until tackling fences. There was enough ability over hurdles to think his opening chase mark of 111 is workable. He won at Chepstow before producing arguably his best effort when second at Fontwell in February, where he chased home the rapidly improving Bollin Thou. That rival was completing a five timer and Livingit Du Large finished another 3 and a quarter lengths clear of the third from a mark of 114. His final start at Newbury can be forgiven, as he was pulled up over three miles, and today's return to 2m4f looks much more suitable. He's also 3lb lower than at Fontwell. The 201 day absence doesn't worry me too much either. His Fontwell second came following an 11 week break, so we've already seen that he can run well fresh, and Snowden has had plenty of time to get his jumping right ahead of this chase debut. Kelijoe could be a serious rival after looking set to win on his own chasing debut before coming down two out, while In The Age is another with plenty of potential. But Livingit Du Large is the one whose profile suggests fences could unlock something we haven't yet seen. If his jumping holds together first time, a mark of 111 may underestimate him and he could easily outrun his price.

1m2f | Handicap | Class 4 | Good To Soft
Akaraka 13/8
Hector Crouch/Michael Bell
Live price from Hollywood Bets
AKARAKA looks ready for the step up to 1m2f and could have plenty more to offer now his stamina is being properly tested. Michael Bell's youngster was brought along quietly over 6f on his first three starts, but there was a completely different look to him once gelded and sent handicapping over a mile at Thirsk last time. He travelled into contention before staying on strongly to finish second of nine, beaten only a length. That was his first real opportunity to race over a trip that suited and the handicapper has reacted with only a 2lb rise, leaving him on 72. Given the improvement he found simply by moving from 6f to a mile, there is every chance another step forward is coming now he tackles 1m2f. His pedigree certainly points that way. He's by Ghaiyyath and his dam stayed 1m6f, while his half sister Mon Etoile won over an extended 1m4f, so stamina should be one of his strengths rather than a concern. The ground is currently quicker than initially forecast, but any rain would be welcome given his improved Thirsk effort came on good to soft. Either way, today's extra quarter mile looks the important change.
