About Dungeons & Dragons Power Combo

Dungeons & Dragons Power Combo from Triple Edge Studios takes one of the biggest names in tabletop gaming and turns it into a high volatility 5x3 slot with 20 fixed paylines. Released on 14 May 2025, it has a maximum win of 12,500x and is commonly listed with a 96% RTP, although operator configurations can differ.

The licence immediately gives Triple Edge Studios plenty to work with. The reels are surrounded by mountains, treasure and fantasy scenery, while familiar D&D creatures including an Owlbear, Gelatinous Cube and Beholder appear among the symbols. A d20 also plays an important role through the Mystery Symbol mechanic.

Mechanically, however, this isn't really an RPG translated into slot form. You aren't choosing a character, exploring a dungeon or making decisions that change your adventure. Instead, the game revolves around collecting different coloured Tokens into three treasure chests. These build the potential Free Spins, Multiplier and Jackpot elements of the bonus, and crucially, more than one can activate together.

That's where the Power Combo name earns its place. You might trigger additional Free Spins, an enhanced multiplier or jackpot opportunities individually, but the interesting results occur when two or even all three are combined into the same bonus. At its strongest, that can mean up to 40 Free Spins, multipliers reaching 10x and jackpot functionality all operating together.

It's a clever structure because you're effectively building your next adventure before you've even entered it. The only slight disappointment is that, for a licence built around limitless imagination, the actual Dungeons & Dragons part could have gone considerably deeper. There's plenty of Power Combo here. I'd have liked a little more dungeon crawling to go with it.

Features

Mystery Dice (Mystery Symbols)

Golden d20 Mystery Dice can land in stacks and transform into the same randomly selected paying symbol before wins are evaluated. When enough positions are covered, this can produce a screen packed with matching symbols and potentially create wins across all 20 paylines. It's one of the better thematic touches in the game. The d20 is instantly associated with Dungeons & Dragons, while the uncertainty over what the Mystery positions will reveal gives the dice an actual purpose rather than simply using it as decoration. Mystery Symbols can also reveal symbols carrying coloured Tokens, which feed into the three Power Combo pots. Roll the dice and see what happens. For once, that's both a D&D reference and a fairly accurate description of the feature.

Power Combo Pots (Feature Collection)

Three treasure chests sit beside the reels and represent the different components that can enhance the bonus. Coloured Tokens collected during ordinary play build these pots and can influence the number of Free Spins, multiplier level and jackpot functionality available when a bonus activates. This gives otherwise ordinary base game spins a sense of progression. Even when you're not entering a bonus immediately, Token collection can potentially improve what happens when you eventually get there. It's a particularly good fit for a D&D slot because it feels a little like gathering equipment before heading off on the actual quest.

Power Combo Free Spins (Combined Bonus)

Power Combo Free Spins allow the game's three principal bonus modifiers to activate individually or in combination. Two different Token types can therefore produce a bonus containing two enhanced elements, while activating all three creates the full Power Combo experience. This is comfortably the game's best idea. Instead of having three completely separate bonuses competing for attention, Triple Edge Studios allows them to overlap. That creates considerably more variation because reaching Free Spins doesn't necessarily mean receiving exactly the same feature every time. A single modifier is useful. Two are considerably better. Get all three together and you've effectively assembled your adventuring party.

Extra Free Spins (Free Spins Modifier)

The Free Spins component can increase the number of spins awarded, with the fully developed feature capable of providing up to 40 Free Spins. There's nothing revolutionary about receiving additional spins, but within Power Combo their value depends heavily on what else you've managed to activate. Forty ordinary Free Spins are one thing. A substantial number of spins alongside an enhanced multiplier and active jackpot mechanics is considerably more interesting. That's really the cleverness of the whole system. Individual modifiers that look fairly ordinary on paper become much stronger when they're allowed to work together.

Multiplier Bonus (Progressive Bonus Multiplier)

The Multiplier Bonus can add an enhanced win multiplier to Free Spins, with the multiplier capable of reaching 10x. Independent reviews and game databases consistently report the 10x ceiling. The multiplier applies to regular line wins rather than jackpot awards, which is an important distinction. Again, its real strength comes through combination. A multiplier by itself isn't particularly unusual. A 10x multiplier operating across an extended Free Spins feature while you're simultaneously collecting towards jackpots is a much more interesting proposition.

Jackpot Bonus (Fixed Jackpots)

The Jackpot Bonus introduces coloured Gem symbols associated with the different jackpot tiers. Collect enough matching Gems to complete a meter and the corresponding jackpot is awarded. Current sources consistently identify multiple jackpot levels, although there's some inconsistent third party terminology around the exact naming and number of tiers. The strongest detailed sources describe Mini, Minor, Maxi, Major and Grand, with the Grand fixed at 12,500x. Importantly, these are Fixed Jackpots, not a progressive network jackpot like Dream Drop. Most jackpot tiers can also be won more than once during the feature, with the awarded jackpot returning to its starting value afterwards. The Grand is the exception.

Jackpot Power Combo (Jackpot Modifier)

The jackpot element becomes considerably more interesting when combined with the other Power Combo features. Rather than simply entering a standalone jackpot round, you can potentially have jackpot collection active alongside additional Free Spins and the Multiplier Bonus. One independent play test, for example, reports triggering the jackpot and additional spins together for a 24 spin feature. This is a good example of where I'd give a game credit for its jackpot implementation. We're not awarding points simply because it says "jackpot" on the screen. The jackpot mechanic actually participates in the wider Power Combo system.

Gameplay

8.0/10

There's a noticeable divide between the base game and what happens once Power Combo gets involved. Ordinary 5x3, 20 payline gameplay is fairly conventional, something several independent reviewers also picked up on when playing the game. Mystery Dice and Token collection stop it becoming completely uneventful, but the real attraction is clearly building the three treasure chests and waiting to see which combination eventually activates. What lifts the score is that progression. You're not simply sitting around waiting for three Scatters. Collecting Tokens changes the potential shape of the eventual feature, while Mystery Dice can create sizeable matching symbol areas during normal play. The dungeon entrance is a little quiet, but there's considerably more happening once you get through the door.

Bonus & Features

9.0/10

This is where Dungeons & Dragons Power Combo really delivers. Extra Free Spins, multipliers and jackpot collection aren't individually groundbreaking mechanics. Allowing them to activate in different combinations is considerably more interesting. A bonus can therefore range from a relatively straightforward Free Spins round to something containing a large number of spins, a multiplier reaching 10x and jackpot collection simultaneously. That gives the feature genuine replay value because reaching the bonus doesn't automatically tell you exactly what you're about to get. The different components also remain easy to understand despite the number of possible combinations. That's important. Feature rich doesn't have to mean needing to consult the Player Help screen every thirty seconds.

Visuals & Presentation

20%
8.4/10

This is a strong looking game. Triple Edge Studios has made good use of the Dungeons & Dragons licence, with fantasy landscapes, chained reels, treasure chests and recognisable creatures creating a world that feels substantially more developed than a generic swords and dragons reskin. Reviews based on demo play also praise the changing environments and dramatic soundtrack. The Mystery d20 is particularly effective because it's both immediately recognisable and mechanically important. Animations also become more energetic when Power Combo activates, with spell effects and changes in presentation helping the bonus feel like an event rather than simply another set of spins. I'd stop short of a 9 because the actual gameplay doesn't exploit the D&D universe as deeply as the artwork does. It looks like an adventure. Mechanically, you're still mostly spinning a slot.

Originality

8.5/10

The individual ingredients aren't especially revolutionary. Mystery Symbols, Free Spins, multipliers, collection meters and Fixed Jackpots have all been around for years. Power Combo is what changes the calculation. Building three different bonus components during base play and then allowing them to trigger individually or simultaneously gives the game a much more flexible structure. The same bonus trigger can therefore produce substantially different experiences depending on what has been collected. There's also some missed potential here. Dungeons & Dragons is almost tailor made for branching paths, character selection, quests, dice based decisions and player choice. Other reviewers have similarly noted that the game doesn't go particularly deeply into actual RPG mechanics. So Triple Edge has created an original bonus structure, but hasn't quite rolled a natural 20 with the licence.

Final Summary

Dungeons & Dragons Power Combo has a strong licence, but thankfully there's a strong feature underneath it too. The base game is relatively traditional, although Mystery Dice and Token collection provide enough progression to keep the three treasure chests relevant. It's when Power Combo activates that the game really comes alive, with Free Spins, multipliers and jackpot mechanics capable of operating individually or combining into a considerably more powerful bonus.

Visually, Triple Edge Studios has done a good job with the fantasy world and its creatures, although there's an obvious opportunity to take the licence even further. Character classes, quests, decisions and more meaningful use of the famous d20 could have transformed a very good slot into something genuinely exceptional.

As it stands, Dungeons & Dragons Power Combo is much better at being a Power Combo slot than it is at being a Dungeons & Dragons game. Fortunately, it's a very good Power Combo slot.
