Two clubs still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season meet in North London on Saturday lunchtime as Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa. The fixture is scheduled to kick off at 12:30pm with live coverage in the UK on TNT Sports 1.
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a miserable start to the new campaign and currently sit 17th in the Premier League table with just two points from their opening four matches. Roberto De Zerbi’s side suffered defeats against Brentford (3-0) and Newcastle United (2-0) before registering back-to-back draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton. Spurs are yet to score a league goal this season and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek following a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool. Aston Villa have also struggled domestically, taking just one point from their first four league games to sit 19th in the table. However, Unai Emery’s side have shown signs of improvement with victories against Club Brugge (3-2) and Coventry City (3-1) in the Champions League and Carabao Cup respectively.
Aston Villa at 5/2
Match Result
Tottenham Hotspur have won just five of their last 36 home league games and are still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season. Aston Villa have won four of the last five meetings between these sides and are unbeaten in their last three away games in all competitions (two wins, one draw). With Unai Emery’s side showing signs of improvement following victories in Europe and the Carabao Cup, we’re backing the visitors to claim all three points in North London on Saturday.

Total Goals (Over/Under)
These two clubs have scored just one Premier League goal between them this season but recent cup performances suggest that both may be finding their feet in front of goal. Aston Villa have scored seven goals across their last three matches in all competitions, with each of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals. Tottenham Hotspur also found the net in their midweek Carabao Cup defeat at Liverpool and will be desperate to register their first league goal of the campaign. With both clubs searching for a much-needed victory, we’re optimistically expecting an entertaining encounter in North London.
John McGinn at 11/4
Player To Be Carded
Aston Villa captain John McGinn is no stranger to the referee’s notebook and has already pick ed up four bookings in all competitions this season. The Scottish international has been carded in two of his four Premier League appearances, against Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal and looks a solid selection in Saturday’s card markets. With Villa looking to extend Tottenham’s winless start to the new campaign, McGinn looks good value to pick up another booking.

Verdict
Aston Villa look the stronger side and should have enough on the road. There is enough quality at both ends to make it competitive throughout, with momentum likely to swing more than once. Stephen Welch make Aston Villa at 5/2 the standout call on the card.
