About Matthew Hughes
Matt stands as a true legend of Welsh sport, holding a rare and elite milestone: achieving National Champion status across two completely different sporting disciplines. Following a historic 22 year international career in racket sports, where he commanded 101 caps for Wales, competed at multiple Commonwealth Games, and secured 10 Welsh National Badminton Championship titles, Matt transitioned his focus into endurance road cycling.
Racing for the elite Nopinz RT outfit, he achieved an eight year competitive goal by claiming the official Welsh National Criterium Championship Jersey.

Matthew at betting.bet
At betting.bet, Matt utilizes his background as a dual national champion and former national performance coach to head our professional cycling division. He serves as our lead Tour de France analyst, dissecting complex peloton team tactics, power drag data metrics, physical stage fatigue structures, and high intent race week market values.
Rather than assessing major tours through surface level odds numbers, Matt breaks down cycling analytics with the technical depth of an active national competitor.
