Dragon Pots Megaways is a 2026 release from Pragmatic Play that combines the familiar shifting reels of Megaways with a three pot bonus system built around different coloured dragons. Released in April 2026, it uses six variable height reels with up to 117,649 Ways to Win, has high volatility and a maximum win of 10,000x the stake. The headline RTP is 96.58%, although 95.50% and 94.50% configurations also exist and at least one major UK operator currently runs the 94.50% version.
The setting is pure fantasy adventure. Knights, wizards and dragons occupy a fiery cavern, with a Dragon Egg acting as the Wild. It's colourful and polished in the usual Pragmatic fashion, although the fantasy theme isn't really the reason to play this one. The three dragons sitting above the reels are much more important.
Blue, green and gold Dragon Scatters are linked to three different bonus modifiers. Blue controls Wilds, green controls Multipliers and gold controls Cash Prizes. Collecting the different Scatters can randomly trigger Free Spins with one or more of those modifiers already active, while additional modifiers can join during the feature and extend it.
That's where Dragon Pots Megaways becomes much more interesting. One Free Spins trigger can play very differently from another depending on which dragons have decided to get involved. Start with only one modifier and there's still somewhere for the bonus to go. Get all three working together and Wilds, multipliers and instant prizes can all interact during the same feature.
The pots themselves are slightly misleading, though. They look like progression meters, but filling them doesn't mean you're steadily marching towards a guaranteed trigger. The activation remains random.
So perhaps don't start planning the victory parade just because the dragon's pot looks full.
Megaways gives each of the six reels between two and seven symbols on every spin, creating anything up to 117,649 Ways to Win. Matching symbols pay across consecutive reels beginning from the left.
It's a good fit for the game because the changing reel heights keep an otherwise fairly conventional fantasy slot visually active. Seeing several reels open to their maximum height immediately gives a spin more promise, even before the dragons become involved.
The base game is still noticeably quieter than the bonus, though. Dragon Pots Megaways is very much a feature chaser, and stretches where neither the pots nor the Wild are doing much can feel fairly uneventful.
The Fire Wild substitutes for the regular paying symbols and can appear naturally on the Megaways grid.
It becomes much more important once the Blue Dragon modifier is active. That's where the game takes a fairly ordinary Wild and starts making it part of the wider bonus system.
I like that distinction. The Wild isn't being asked to carry the base game by itself. Its better tricks are being saved for when you've actually reached something worthwhile.
Three coloured Dragon Scatters feed the game's Dragon Pots, with each colour linked to a different Free Spins modifier.
Blue is associated with Wilds, Green with Multipliers and Gold with Cash Prizes. The pots provide a visual indication of the three feature routes and can randomly trigger Free Spins with their corresponding modifiers active.
This is the mechanic that gives the game its identity.
Having three pots makes the buildup more interesting because you're not simply waiting for one bonus meter to do something. You can see which type of feature is potentially being brought into play, and getting several colours involved promises a much stronger bonus.
My only reservation is that the pots look more deterministic than they really are. Visually filling something naturally suggests progress, while the actual trigger is random. Once you understand that, they're easier to appreciate for what they are.
Activate the Wild Modifier and additional Random Wilds can be added to the reels during Free Spins.
It's probably the least exciting modifier in isolation, but that's not really the point of the three pot system.
Random Wilds become considerably more useful when they're working alongside the Multiplier or Cash Prize modifiers. That's where Dragon Pots starts getting more mileage from otherwise straightforward mechanics.
A few extra Wilds are nice.
A few extra Wilds while the other two dragons are causing trouble is considerably better.
The Green Dragon unlocks the Multi Modifier, introducing multipliers that can increase the value of qualifying wins during Free Spins. Published game information lists multiplier values in the 2x to 10x range.
This is the modifier I'd rather see active than Wilds alone because it gives successful spins considerably more upside, particularly if the feature develops and another dragon subsequently joins in.
It also gives the bonus a little more momentum. Once decent multipliers start appearing, ordinary Megaways combinations suddenly become much more interesting.
The Gold Dragon activates the Bonus Modifier, introducing special prize values that can reach 200x the stake.
This adds a completely different source of value from ordinary Megaways combinations. Instead of everything depending on symbols connecting across the reels, there are now individual prizes worth watching as well.
It's at its best when combined with the other modifiers. That's really the recurring story with Dragon Pots Megaways: none of the three ideas is exceptional by itself, but they become considerably more entertaining when the dragons stop taking turns.
A Dragon Pot can randomly trigger 10 Free Spins, with one, two or all three modifiers potentially active when the feature begins.
This gives the bonus useful variation before the first spin has even started.
Triggering with a single modifier feels like you've reached the basic version of the feature. Starting with two is much more promising, while getting all three immediately puts the game into its strongest configuration.
I like that because the bonus isn't completely predictable. Reaching Free Spins doesn't automatically tell you exactly what the next ten spins are going to look like.
If Free Spins begin without all three modifiers active, additional qualifying Dragon Scatters can activate the missing modifiers and award five Additional Free Spins for each newly activated feature.
This is probably the best part of the bonus design.
A weaker trigger isn't necessarily condemned to remain weak. There's still the possibility of another dragon joining in, adding spins and making everything that follows more interesting.
It gives you something meaningful to chase once you're already inside the feature rather than simply watching ten spins count down.
Dragon Pots Megaways is noticeably better once the dragons start getting involved.
The changing reel heights give the base game enough movement to stop it feeling completely static, and the Wild can occasionally help produce a decent Megaways combination. But there are stretches where the ordinary game feels like little more than the waiting room for the three pots.
That's the biggest weakness for me.
Once Free Spins arrive, the game becomes much more engaging because you're watching not only the reels but also which modifiers are active and whether another dragon can join the feature. A bonus beginning with one modifier has an obvious objective: find the other two.
The high volatility suits that structure, although it also means the quieter periods can feel quite pronounced. SlotCatalog lists a 20.83% hit frequency, while the bonus itself is estimated at roughly once every 192 spins.
It's good gameplay when the machinery is running.
I just wish a little more of that machinery operated between bonuses.
The three modifier system is easily the strongest part of Dragon Pots Megaways.
What works particularly well is that a Free Spins trigger doesn't necessarily represent the finished feature. Start with the Wild modifier and you can still find the Multiplier and Cash Prize modifiers later, with each new activation also adding another five spins.
That creates proper progression.
You can enter with a fairly ordinary bonus and gradually turn it into the version you actually wanted.
The three modifiers also complement one another nicely. Additional Wilds improve the Megaways grid, multipliers make successful combinations more valuable and Cash Prizes introduce another route to a decent result.
I wouldn't push this into the 9s because none of the individual modifiers feels especially ambitious. It's their combination that makes the feature good.
But once all three dragons are awake, there's plenty happening.
Dragon Pots Megaways looks good without ever making me forget that I've visited this particular fantasy kingdom before.
The cavern setting is rich with fire and colour, while dragons, knights, spellcasters and glowing eggs give the reels plenty of character. The three dragons above the reels also do a good job of making the game's main mechanic visually obvious.
That's important because the pots are always part of what you're watching. Their colours clearly correspond with the three bonus modifiers, so the feature system doesn't require you to keep checking what everything means.
The artwork itself is polished rather than exceptional. Dragons and medieval fantasy have been through the slot industry almost as often as Pharaohs and fishermen.
Still, there's enough personality in the three Dragon Pots to make this particular one easy to recognise.
The clever part of Dragon Pots Megaways isn't the dragons or even Megaways. It's the way the bonus can assemble itself differently each time you reach it.
Starting with one, two or three modifiers immediately creates several possible versions of Free Spins. More importantly, a weaker version can improve while you're playing it. Finding another Dragon Scatter doesn't merely provide a few extra spins; it introduces another mechanic for the rest of the feature.
That's what gives the game some identity.
I also like how easy it is to understand which dragon controls what. Blue means Wilds, green means Multipliers and gold means Cash Prizes. There's complexity in the combinations without complexity in understanding them.
Where it falls short is that the individual modifiers themselves are fairly safe choices. Random Wilds, win multipliers and instant Cash Prizes aren't going to surprise experienced players.
The arrangement is more original than the ingredients.
Overall Rating
8.0/10
Dragon Pots Megaways is a good example of a slot where the bonus is more interesting because you don't necessarily know which version of it you're going to get.
The ordinary Megaways game is competent but relatively quiet. Six variable reels provide up to 117,649 Ways to Win, but the real reason to pay attention is the trio of dragons sitting above them. Blue brings Wilds, green brings Multipliers and gold brings Cash Prizes.
Free Spins are where that system pays off. You can begin with one, two or all three modifiers, and a weaker starting feature can improve if the missing dragons activate later. Each new modifier also adds five spins, so a bonus that initially looks disappointing can develop into something considerably stronger.
That's the part I like most. The game gives you somewhere to go after triggering the bonus.
The base game could use more personality and the three modifiers are individually fairly conventional, but they work well together. The fantasy presentation is polished, the 10,000x maximum win provides enough potential for the high volatility and the headline 96.58% RTP is strong for a modern Pragmatic Play release.
Published RTP versions include 96.58%, 95.50% and 94.50%, and both Grosvenor and Genting currently display the 94.50% version in the UK.
The pots may look like they're slowly filling towards something inevitable, but the trigger is still random. Once you're actually inside Free Spins, however, watching the three dragons gradually join forces is where the game earns its score.
One dragon makes for a decent bonus. Three of them finally give the pots something worth breathing fire about.
