Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop is a 2025 release from Relax Gaming that takes the familiar red and gold dragon theme and builds a surprisingly fast moving Cash Collect game around it. Released on 21 May 2025, it uses a 6x4 grid with 4,096 Ways to Win, has medium volatility, a 94% RTP and maximum regular game potential of 10,000x the stake, before the Dream Drop jackpots are considered.
The setup revolves around two Dragon positions on the outside reels and a prize ladder sitting beside the grid. Bonsai Coin Symbols add between 1 and 5 Coins to that meter, with every five Coins unlocking the next prize level. A Dragon landing on either outside reel activates the Collect Feature, while two Dragons double the starting values on the meter before the collection takes place.
Treasure Chests provide the other important ingredient. They can improve prizes on the meter or trigger a Respin, giving an ordinary collection the possibility of becoming considerably more valuable before the Dragon takes what you've built. The ladder begins with modest prizes but can ultimately reach the game's 10,000x maximum, so the excitement comes from seeing how far up the Bonsai tree you can climb before the collection ends.
The bonus is called Bonsai Spins, where at least one Dragon is guaranteed on every spin. That completely changes the rhythm because you're no longer hoping the Collector arrives at the right moment; every spin is guaranteed to activate it. Chest upgrades also persist throughout the feature, while additional Bonus Symbols can keep adding spins.
Dream Drop is more tightly integrated than it is in many games using Relax Gaming's jackpot network. Special Jackpot Symbols can appear within the same collection system and award one of six progressive prizes, including the Daily Jackpot that debuted with this game alongside Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major and Mega.
Bonsai Dragon Blitz doesn't try to grow a forest of different features. It plants one idea, waters it with Coins and lets the Dragon take care of the harvesting.
Bonsai Coins are the Collection Symbols that feed the prize meter, with each one adding between 1 and 5 Coins when collected by a Dragon. Every five Coins unlocks another step on the ladder, with progressively larger prizes available as the meter climbs.
This is the mechanic you're watching most of the time because even a handful of Coins can make a big difference if they push the meter across another threshold. A 5 Coin symbol arriving at the right moment is naturally much more useful than several smaller additions scattered around the screen.
I like the simplicity of it. There's no need to remember several different coloured meters or work out which Collector belongs to which prize. The Coins have one job: get you further up the tree before the Dragon comes calling.
Dragon Symbols can land on the first and sixth reels, with a single Dragon activating the Cash Collect feature and awarding the highest prize level unlocked on the Bonsai meter.
The Dragon gives the base game its tension because you can see Coins and potential upgrades sitting on the screen while waiting to discover whether the Collector will actually appear.
It's a familiar idea, but Relax has made the relationship between the Dragon and the meter very clear. You spend the spin building something on one side of the screen and hoping the Dragon turns up to cash it in.
Landing two Dragons on the same spin strengthens the Collect Feature by doubling the starting prize values on the meter before the Coins are evaluated.
This is one of the better base game moments because the second Dragon doesn't merely repeat the collection. It improves the ladder itself.
That can make an already promising Coin setup considerably more valuable, particularly if enough Coins have landed to push the meter through several prize levels. One Dragon collects the tree; two apparently decide the fruit wasn't expensive enough.
Bonsai Chests can randomly improve prizes on the meter, giving the collection system another way to develop beyond simply adding more Coins.
I like this because the meter can improve in two directions. Coins determine how far you climb, while Chests can improve what the individual levels are actually worth.
That makes a good screen about more than simply counting Coins. A well timed Chest can make the section of the ladder you've already reached considerably more attractive without requiring you to climb any further.
A Bonsai Chest can also award a Respin, where eligible empty positions spin again while useful Dragon and Bonsai positions are preserved. The new positions can reveal additional Coins, Chests or jackpot opportunities.
This is probably my favourite Chest result because it gives an already promising setup another chance to improve itself.
A few extra Coins might push the meter to another level, another Chest can improve the prizes again and a Dragon can complete the collection. It creates a nice little chain reaction without needing to leave the main grid.
Landing three or more Bonus Symbols triggers Bonsai Spins, with the number of triggering symbols determining the initial number of spins. Each additional Bonus Symbol landing during the feature awards another spin.
The crucial difference is that at least one Dragon is guaranteed on every Bonsai Spin. That means the Collect Feature activates every time, turning the bonus into a much more aggressive version of the base game.
The initial allocation can be small, but that makes the extra Bonus Symbols particularly important. You're constantly looking for another spin because every additional one comes with another guaranteed Dragon collection.
Prize improvements created by Bonsai Chests remain active throughout Bonsai Spins, allowing the meter to become stronger as the feature progresses.
This is what makes the bonus better than simply giving you several guaranteed collections.
Get a useful Chest upgrade early and every Dragon arriving afterwards gets to benefit from it. That gives the feature genuine progression, because a later spin can be working with a considerably better prize ladder than the one you started with.
The earlier the Chest arrives, the more time you have to enjoy what was inside it.
Special Dream Drop symbols are incorporated directly into the game's collection mechanics, providing access to Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Daily, Major and Mega progressive jackpots.
This is an unusually good fit for Dream Drop because the jackpot symbols aren't completely divorced from the rest of the game. They can appear alongside the same Coins, Chests and Dragons you're already watching, making the progressive element feel more integrated into the reel action.
The Daily Jackpot is particularly significant because Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop launched alongside Relax Gaming's expansion of Dream Drop into a six tier system. The Daily sits between Maxi and Major and forms part of a network designed to produce guaranteed daily jackpot drops.
Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop is refreshingly easy to understand, and the meter gives almost every promising screen an obvious objective.
You're looking for Coins to climb the ladder, Chests to improve it and Dragons to collect whatever you've managed to build. That's enough moving parts to keep things interesting without turning the game into a flowchart.
The Dragon placement on the two outside reels works particularly well because you know exactly where to look. When a decent collection of Coins has landed, those edge positions suddenly become considerably more important, and seeing the second Dragon arrive can transform the value of the whole setup.
Bonsai Spins improve the rhythm considerably by guaranteeing a Dragon on every spin. The frustration of building a useful meter and missing the Collector disappears, allowing you to concentrate entirely on Coins, upgrades and extra spins.
The 94% RTP is the obvious weakness, and the base game can become repetitive when the meter isn't developing. Still, the gameplay is fast, clear and much more entertaining once the Dragon starts earning his keep.
The feature package works because practically everything feeds into the same prize ladder.
Coins advance it, Chests improve it, Respins give you another chance to develop it and Dragons collect from it. Bonsai Spins then guarantee the Collector and allow Chest improvements to persist, making the feature stronger if you find the right upgrades early.
That's a coherent design. Relax hasn't created five separate features and asked you to remember which one does what; it has taken one central mechanic and found several ways to make it more interesting.
I particularly like the two Dragon trigger because doubling the meter values gives the second Collector a meaningful role rather than simply repeating what the first one already did.
Dream Drop is integrated more naturally than usual too, with jackpot symbols appearing as part of the same collection system rather than always sending you into an entirely unrelated bonus.
The relatively small starting allocation of Bonsai Spins can occasionally make the feature disappear before it has properly got going, but extra Bonus Symbols and persistent upgrades give a good round plenty of room to improve.
Red, gold, dragons and Asian inspired imagery aren't exactly unexplored territory in slots, but Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop has enough polish and energy to make the familiar setting work.
The golden Bonsai trees provide a strong visual focus, while Coins visibly feeding the meter makes the main mechanic easy to follow. Dragons have enough presence when they land to make the Collect Feature feel important without covering the grid in unnecessary animation.
The game also gets noticeably livelier during Bonsai Spins, where the guaranteed Dragon activity and persistent upgrades make the screen feel busier without becoming difficult to read. Independent hands on reviews have similarly praised the visual quality even when being less enthusiastic about the underlying payouts.
I'd have liked a slightly less familiar theme, but the execution is excellent. Relax may have planted another golden tree beside another red dragon, but at least this one has been properly looked after.
The prize meter is what gives Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop its own identity, particularly because Relax has made so many of the game's features interact with it.
Collecting Coins to move through reward levels is easy to understand, but Chests improving those prizes and Dragons determining when they're collected gives the meter considerably more life than a straightforward progress bar.
The two Dragon mechanic is another good touch. Instead of simply collecting twice, it improves the starting values of the ladder, meaning the second Dragon changes the quality of the opportunity rather than merely repeating it.
I also like the way Dream Drop has been incorporated. Jackpot symbols are woven into the reel functionality, and the game was used to introduce the Daily Jackpot alongside the five established progressive tiers.
The dragon theme itself earns very little originality credit, but mechanically there's enough here that I wouldn't struggle to distinguish Bonsai Dragon Blitz from another red and gold Asian slot.
Overall Rating
8.2/10
Bonsai Dragon Blitz Dream Drop keeps its ideas relatively simple, but almost everything has been designed to make the same prize ladder more interesting.
Bonsai Coins push you through the reward levels, Chests can improve those prizes or provide another Respin, and Dragons collect the highest level you've managed to unlock. Get two Dragons on the same spin and the meter becomes considerably more valuable before the collection takes place.
Bonsai Spins are the strongest part of the game because a Dragon is guaranteed on every spin. That removes the biggest frustration of the base game and lets you concentrate on developing the meter, finding persistent Chest upgrades and landing additional Bonus Symbols to keep the feature alive.
Dream Drop is integrated particularly well. Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Daily, Major and Mega prizes can become involved through the same wider collection system, while the addition of the Daily Jackpot gives this game a small place in Dream Drop history as the title used to launch Relax Gaming's expanded jackpot structure.
The 94% RTP is disappointing, while players looking for layers of complex bonus mechanics may find the central loop a little repetitive. The upside is that the game rarely loses sight of what it's trying to do, and the regular game still offers maximum non jackpot potential of 10,000x the stake.
It's colourful, quick to understand and considerably more coherent than slots that throw half a dozen unrelated modifiers onto the screen. Most importantly, the Bonsai tree isn't just there to look pretty; everything from the Coins to the Dragons is trying to push you further towards the top.
The tree may be miniature, but Relax Gaming has managed to hang some very large prizes from it.
