Ramses Book Deluxe is GAMOMAT's polished 2023 update of its established Ramses Book formula, returning to Ancient Egypt with upgraded graphics, a reworked soundtrack and the same deliberately straightforward Book slot structure. It was released in November 2023 and uses a 5x3 grid with selectable 5 or 10 paylines. GAMOMAT officially lists 96.15% RTP and high volatility, while confirming that alternative RTP models are available in certain markets.
The setup will be instantly familiar to anyone who has spent time with Book style slots. Egyptian royalty and hieroglyphic symbols fill the reels, while the Book does double duty as both Wild and Scatter. Three Books unlock Free Games, where one regular paying symbol is randomly selected to become the special Stamped Symbol for the entire feature.
That Stamping mechanic is where virtually all the game's serious excitement sits. When the selected symbol appears during Free Games, it can expand across its entire reel and pay without needing the usual adjacent positioning. Free Games can also be extended, giving the selected symbol further opportunities to land across several reels simultaneously.
There are also two old school Gamble options, with both a Card Gamble and Risk Ladder available after eligible wins.
It's unmistakably a Book slot and makes absolutely no attempt to hide it.
At least Ramses has the excuse of being around long before everyone started copying his homework.
The Book combines the industry standard Wild and Scatter functions in a single symbol.
During ordinary play it substitutes for regular paying symbols to help complete winning combinations. Landing three or more Books anywhere across the reels also triggers the game's Free Games feature.
The Book itself can also produce direct Scatter payouts, giving it value even when its positioning doesn't contribute towards an ordinary payline win.
It's the familiar Book slot formula and there's very little GAMOMAT has attempted to reinvent here.
Landing at least three Book Scatters awards 10 Free Games.
Before the feature begins, one of the ordinary paying symbols is randomly selected to become the special Bonus Symbol for the entire round.
That selection can make a considerable difference.
Getting one of the lower paying card suit symbols isn't quite the same prospect as seeing Ramses himself selected.
Even Pharaohs have favourites.
GAMOMAT officially calls this the Stamping Feature, while the recognised industry mechanic is an Expanding Symbol.
Before Free Games begin, one eligible paying symbol is randomly chosen. Whenever enough examples of that symbol appear during the bonus, they can expand vertically to occupy their respective reels.
More importantly, the Stamped Symbols don't need to appear on adjacent reels in the conventional way to produce their special payouts. This makes combinations involving the selected symbol considerably easier to construct during the feature.
This is the mechanic you're really playing Ramses Book Deluxe for.
Get the right premium symbol selected and manage to land it across several reels simultaneously and a very ordinary looking Book slot can suddenly become considerably more interesting.
Additional Book Scatters can award Additional Free Games, extending the original bonus and retaining the same selected Stamped Symbol.
That's particularly useful because you're not starting the feature again with another random selection.
If you've already landed a strong premium Stamped Symbol, additional spins simply provide more opportunities for that same symbol to expand across several reels.
It's a simple Retrigger, but exactly the sort you want in this style of game.
The Card Gamble is the traditional red or black Gamble Feature available following eligible wins.
Players can risk their current prize by predicting the colour of the next card, with a correct prediction doubling the amount.
There's nothing innovative about it.
But on a deliberately traditional slot like Ramses Book Deluxe, it fits perfectly well.
GAMOMAT also provides its familiar Risk Ladder, giving players another optional way to gamble an eligible win rather than collecting it immediately.
Again, it's an old school mechanic rather than something that materially changes the game.
Having two different Gamble options does at least provide a little more player choice than the usual single red or black feature.
Ramses Book Deluxe is straightforward almost to a fault.
The 5x3 grid and selectable paylines make the game extremely easy to understand, while having the Book act as both Wild and Scatter means there's always one obvious symbol to watch.
The problem is that ordinary spins don't contain much else.
Most of the game's personality is concentrated inside Free Games, so longer spells without three Books can feel fairly repetitive.
Once the bonus arrives, however, the Stamping mechanic changes the rhythm considerably. Suddenly you're watching every reel for the selected symbol and hoping to see it appear across several positions simultaneously.
It's old fashioned gameplay, but the formula has survived for a reason.
There aren't many features, but the main one is good.
Selecting a random symbol before Free Games and allowing it to expand across entire reels creates an immediately understandable objective. The fact those expanded symbols can pay without conventional adjacency makes multi reel appearances particularly satisfying.
Retriggers also work particularly well because the chosen Stamped Symbol remains important throughout the extended feature.
The Card Gamble and Risk Ladder add something outside the bonus, but neither contributes much towards the overall depth.
Compared with the feature heavy games we've been reviewing, Ramses Book Deluxe is relatively bare.
What it does have works.
This is where the Deluxe treatment is most apparent.
GAMOMAT specifically describes this edition as featuring high quality graphics and a reimagined soundtrack, and there's a noticeable improvement in presentation compared with the older Ramses Book.
The golden Egyptian setting, hieroglyphics, Pharaoh imagery and richly illustrated premium symbols all look polished and clear.
The problem is originality.
Egypt might genuinely run out of undiscovered tombs before slot developers run out of Egyptian themed games.
Still, we're rating execution here rather than originality, and Ramses Book Deluxe is a good looking traditional slot.
This is inevitably where Ramses Book Deluxe struggles.
The Book formula was already extremely well established by 2023. A Wild and Scatter Book triggering Free Spins with a randomly selected Expanding Symbol is one of the most recognisable structures in online slots.
GAMOMAT itself had already used essentially the same mechanics in the original Ramses Book. Its official pages list the same core Free Games with Stamping Feature, Card Gamble and Risk Ladder for both versions.
So Deluxe is primarily an upgraded presentation rather than a mechanical reinvention.
That's perfectly legitimate.
It just doesn't earn many originality points.
Overall Rating
7.1/10
Ramses Book Deluxe doesn't attempt to rewrite the Book of slots. It gives the old one a very nice new cover.
GAMOMAT has kept things remarkably traditional. Five reels, three rows and selectable 5 or 10 paylines provide the foundation, while the Book acts as both Wild and Scatter. Three Books unlock 10 Free Games and randomly select one paying symbol for the Stamping Feature.
That's where the game comes alive.
The chosen symbol can expand across complete reels and doesn't require normal adjacent positioning for its special payouts. Get a premium symbol selected and land it across several reels and you quickly remember why this mechanic became so widely copied in the first place.
Outside Free Games, things are considerably quieter. The Card Gamble and Risk Ladder provide a couple of traditional extras, but there isn't much happening during normal spins beyond waiting for the Books.
Visually, Deluxe is a worthwhile improvement. The Egyptian artwork is sharper, the presentation is richer and GAMOMAT has reworked the soundtrack. It doesn't make Ancient Egypt feel remotely new as a slot theme, but it does make this particular trip back to the pyramids look good.
One database point I'd be careful with is maximum win. Available reports currently list 10,750x, 5,000x and 2,500x configurations. GAMOMAT's public specification doesn't provide a maximum win figure, so no single figure should be treated as universal without checking the specific game configuration.
RTP is more straightforward. 96.15% is GAMOMAT's official headline figure, although the developer explicitly confirms that additional RTP models are available, and a current UK operator example shows 94.09%.
Ramses Book Deluxe is ancient Egypt doing what ancient Egypt has done in slots for years. The tomb has been raided before, but GAMOMAT has at least given it a decent renovation.
Overall Rating: 7.1/10.
