Party Time Claiming Race

MAGNETIC NORTH - 12/1

MAGNETIC NORTH might secure his 10th career win in his debut for Ian Donoghue. The chestnut gelding impressively competed for 21 consecutive months from March 2022 to November 2023 and is returning from a well-deserved break. Having won this race 12 months ago, the 73-rated nine-year-old, entered for 12,000 euros, should put in a strong performance with Shane Foley riding. Colin Keane will ride French Company, also priced at 12,000 euros. After a solid fourth at Fairyhouse recently, the Jimmy Coogan-trained six-year-old looks like a leading contender. Pinball Wizard (15,000 euros) is consistent and likely to attract many supporters, while the Paul Flynn-trained Emeric (6,000 euros) also has strong claims.

SNELLEN - 5/2

SNELLEN sets the benchmark with a mark of 89. Although she has been disappointing since her Royal Ascot success, she might just need proper quick ground to show her best form. Physique, a winner in the UK when trained by Paul Cole and now in the care of Micky Fenton, boasts the best recent form. He was a close fourth to Hurricane Ivor at the Curragh last month, and it will be interesting to see if he can improve on that performance. Spanish Tenor, with eight wins to his name, had a disappointing run in a claimer at Tipperary last month but can be forgiven as he was found to have mucous in his trachea post-race. A much-improved performance is expected from him now. Lady Lunette, sporting first-time cheekpieces, is another contender capable of making an impact.

Big Boss Events Handicap

KILLEEMORE LAD - 9/4

KILLEEMORE LAD, who won twice over hurdles last year, is poised to add to his tally after securing runner-up spots in his last three starts. He finished second to Pigeon House in a 24-runner handicap hurdle at the Punchestown Festival and showed good stamina when placing behind Sign From Above in a flat race at Listowel. Mephisto, who won twice over two miles at Dundalk last year, may benefit from this step back up in distance following some decent recent performances. His stablemate, Goonyaboyya, also merits consideration, having finished second to Nusra over this trip at Dundalk, with Honketonk Angel, Highland Train, and Figurehead close behind.
