Saturdays Irish Insider

John O'Keeffe is back again after a solid debut on Thursday with 2/3 from Leopardstown. Today 3 more selections from Downpatrick.

I hope you back my selections on Thursday with 2 winners and my Each Way bet Andalusian Star finding the distance a bit too much, but well worth noting for next time out if running over a shorter distance. Today I have 3 selections from Downpatrick .

TELL US THIS - 9/4

TELL US THIS has shown significant improvement on good ground, achieving a victory in a 20-runner handicap at Down Royal last month. Gavin Cromwell's gelding followed up with a strong performance, finishing second only to Herculaneum in another large-field event at Ballinrobe. He now has a promising opportunity to return to winning form, assuming the forecast rain doesn't alter the ground conditions too much. Mater Matuta, who secured her fourth career win over fences at Tramore, is another strong contender, thriving on a decent surface. Brownstone also claimed victory at Tramore this spring and has delivered commendable performances in his subsequent outings.

BENNY SILVER - 4/1

Fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, BENNY SILVER looks like a promising contender. Having been placed multiple times while trained in the UK by Nigel Twiston-Davies, the six-year-old now begins his journey with Ian Donoghue and could be well-positioned with a mark of 88. Donoghue also trains Attitash, who also has a solid chance. Recent Tramore runner-up Itsalonglongroad, though never victorious over this distance, deserves respect as a dual course winner. Quite Incredible, who triumphed with first-time cheekpieces here last month, is likely to attract many supporters in his bid for another win. Other noteworthy contenders in this competitive field include Ballinrobe winner Game And Glory and Declan Queally's Mick Charlie.

EOIN'S CHARM - 9/2

Both Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have runners here, but EOIN'S CHARM, trained by Andy Slattery, might be worth backing. A son of Califet, he has shown promise in his two hurdle races at Ballinrobe, finishing a close fourth on debut despite a troubled run in the closing stages. He then fell at the last while disputing the lead at the same venue. Now making his bumper debut, he has a strong chance. Starcrossed Lover, another switching from hurdles to a bumper, was an impressive second on debut at Punchestown and could go one better, with trainer Colm Murphy recently producing two bumper winners. Lady Gooner, representing Mullins, might improve significantly on good ground. Additionally, Beaufort Scale from Elliott's yard and John McConnell's Jackson Lamb are also strong contenders.
